These fine lead foil intensifying screens are primarily used for industrial radiographic applications to minimize the secondary radiation effect and or intensify the radiographic image. They are generally used in pairs by placing the bare X-Ray film in between the bare lead surfaces of the screens. Since imperfections, tarnish, and scratches adversely affect the radiographic results, each screen surface is protected with a semi-transparent coating, which must be peeled off prior to use. Furthermore, it is suggested that the four corners be slightly rounded to prevent puncturing of the film holders or cassettes. |
